Veterans Parade at Fort Vancouver
November 5 - 11 am

For 25 years, Vancouver has honored veterans with this annual Department of Veteran Affairs sanctioned parade, presented by the Lough Legacy. The parade starts with an Air Force fly-over and 21-gun salute fired by Howitzer cannons from the Parade Ground of the Fort Vancouver National Site. Participating bands, military and veteran units, community organizations and dozens of scout troops continue marching along Officers Row, turn south at the traffic circle to follow Fort Vancouver Way through the Vancouver Barracks, then turn east onto Fifth Street to pass in front of the reconstructed Fort Vancouver and end at the Pearson Air Museum. The parade route will NOT go through downtown Vancouver this year and will not end at Esther Short Park. More than 100 military, veteran and civic organizations and 2,500 individuals participate in the parade. Join us in 2011 for one of the largest veterans parades on the West coast.

Vancouver Symphony Orchestra with Trombonist Henry Henniger

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s second concert of the season is highlighted by acclaimed Oregon trombone soloist Henry Henniger, playing Concertino for Trombone No. 4, Op. 4 by Ferdinand David. 2011 NAIA Cross Country National Championships

For the third consecutive year, more than 750 student athletes from the U.S. and Canada will gather at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site to compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Cross Country National Championships. The Cascade Collegiate Conference and Concordia University are hosting the event. Fort Vancouver has a long history of hosting cross country events dating back to 2001 when it was selected as the site for the USA Men’s and Women’s National Championships/World Cross Country Trials. The Fort Vancouver course is a rolling, European-style layout consisting of two kilometer loops on grass. The moderately challenging course features sections of flat, uphill and downhill grades, providing the necessary variation expected in a national championship competition.

Christmas Ship Parade

2011 marks the 57th year for the Christmas Ship Parade on the Columbia and WillametteRivers in Portland, Oregon. Please click on the Willamette or the Columbia Schedule links for complete schedules with route details including viewing locations and times for restaurants, hotels and outdoor viewing. The Christmas Ship Fleet averages about 55 to 60 boats between the two Columbia and WillametteRiver fleets. Both fleets will be out every night for two weeks beginning December 8, 2011 and running nightly through December 20, 2011. The fleet will do a special performance in Camas, WA on Dec. 3rd. As we are an all volunteer organization, not all the boats make it out every night.
